State Tournament Confidence Boost
A nice story from our Program Operations Director, Patty.
In her own words:
Last year at the State Tournament I got to connect with one of the few young females who were there.
Seeing another woman in charge at a big chess event was something new for this girl and we really bonded. We chatted between rounds, and she even helped to clean the boards and make sure everything was set up for the next round.
Before her 5th and final round, she told me she was nervous she might lose. I helped to give her some confidence, and it paid off. She won her final game, and came up to the scoring table with a smile beaming so big you couldn't help but feel the joy with her.
