CFS participants as well as kids from other schools can attend as long as they are within the grade level of the tournament and register beforehand. 

Divisions are done simply by grade level to make sure that you are only playing with kids at a similar skill level. These will be divided into K-5th grade, 6-8th grade and 9th-12th grade.

We suggest bringing water, snacks, and something to do in between rounds. The next rounds do not start until the last players are finished, so if you are done early you will want to have things to do.

Chess for Success staff will have a check in table. Coaches need to check in with staff to get a student sign in sheet, and students need to check in with their coaches. Coaches will return the sign in sheet to the staff prior to the announcements and the first round.

We have 25 different regions which are divided up by their location. If you do not know which region your school is a part of please reference the map or ask your coach.

We ask that spectators are silent in the seating area, and do not interact with the players while games are actively running.

Please be considerate of the players and do not make any gestures. Even a head nod could be misconstrued as approval of a move, and we want all of our players to have fair and equal opportunity during game play.

See the Tournament Director or another Chess for Success staff member immediately so we can work to fix the problem. The Tournament Director will have the final say in resolving disputes and addressing and questions or concerns.
